DIRTcar Colorado Limited Late Models to race at Phillips County Raceway Friday, May 18th

This coming Friday, May 18th the DIRTcar Colorado Limited Late Models will be heading back to Phillips County Raceway for the first time since it has received its new racing surface. It will also be the first time the that the DIRTcar Limited Late Models have been to the track with their new rules package. Two weeks ago the class raced at I-76 Speedway and the cars were faster then ever and had the best car count for the late model class in years. With the new surface and the new rules the DIRTcar Limited Late Models will be the fastest cars that you will see race at Phillips County Raceway all season.

This will be the second of 12 DIRTcar Colorado Limited Late Model races that will be run at I-76 Speedway and Phillips County Raceway in 2012. This is the first of three weekends in 2012 that the DIRTcar Colorado Limited Late Models will run back to back nights at Phillips County Raceway and I-76 Speedway, the other two will be June 15th & 16th and August 24th & 25th.This year for the first time ever the limited late model class will be sanctioned by DIRTcar so all of the races will count towards DIRTcar Northwest Region Points and DIRTcar National Points.

We are expecting between 15 to 20 limited late models to show up at the first few DIRTcar Colorado Limited Late Model races this season and we hope to build on that threw out the year. Some of the drivers that have said that they will be at  Phillps County Raceway this weekend are Scott Lewis (2011 CLMA DIRTcar Series Champion), Jeff Meeker (2010-2011 DIRTcar Colorado Limited Late Model Champion), Dave Garmann (2004 & 2009 CLMA DIRTcar Series Champion), along with past DIRTcar Colorado Limted Late Model winners Jared Maas , Dylan Schmer , Bubba Alverado , Larry Jackson, and Tim Kiefer . This class is getting bigger and better every year and we hope to see more cars and fans then ever this Friday at Phillips County Raceway.

PCR’S NEW TRACK SURFACE PROVES TO BE BAD FAST AND SMOOTH ALL NIGHT LONG!

FRIDAY WAS AWESOME NIGHT OF 3-WIDE RACING!

IMCA Stock Cars from 4 states were on hand for the inaugural event. Veteran IMCA driver Angel Munoz from Lamar, CO went home as the first ever winner of the Leary Racing BST West Series race for the IMCA Stock Car division Saturday night at Phillips County Raceway. Munoz started on the front row and took off, but the task wasn’t easy for him.  Munoz had Jesse Taylor, Tyler Tipton, Justin Bussell and Perry Misner to worry about.  Misner worked his way to the front and challenged Munoz with Taylor and Tipton hanging strong.  Misner lost several spots after an infield excursion with 2 laps to go, but was saved when Dallas Whiting’s car came to a steaming stop on turn 3.  Misner was placed back in second, but wasn’t able to pass Munoz.  Misner settled for third over Taylor, Bussell and Tipton.

Jacob Adler was able to get in clean air and take the IMCA Northern Sport Mod race with Jason Brees in second over Shane Stout, Steven Lewis and Cody Dewester.

Jeremy Frenier and Will Brack put on a stellar show in the IMCA Modified feature with Frenier taking the win over Brack, John Hansen, Cole Hodges and Bubba Alvarado.

In the IMCA Hobby Stocks, Austin Davis got by Mike Woodhead late in the race to take the win.  Tyrell Smith took home third over Cody Pancake and Taylor Bellomy.

The new track surface proved to be everything and more than was anticipated and expected for both racers and fans! A Huge Thank you to the PCR Fair Board for stepping up and providing the new track surface! Car Counts were double the average from last season and both racers and fans say they can’t wait to come back! Come check it out on FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT Friday, May 18th! There will be free flags and autographs for the kids!

The next event for the Leary Racing BST Stock Car West Tour is on Wednesday July 4 at Phillips County Speedway in Holyoke, CO.  The South Tour kicks off Friday, June 8th  and Saturday June 9th  at the Great American Dirt Track in Jetmore, KS.
